Simply put, Randy Couture still has it. The man is an amazing specimen when you stand back and look at his accomplishments and his AGE. This man is 46 years old, and he absolutely dominated Brandon Vera in the clinch. Keep in mind that both guys had wrestling backgrounds. This wasn’t a “Randy’s wrestling kept so-and-so from his strength” situation. Both men had excellent wrestling skills; Randy just showed that he still is a force to be reckoned with, even if it means relatively boring fights to the casual fan.
Don’t forget that the WEC is holding an event this Wednesday; the main event is Mike Brown vs. Jose Aldo, for the featherweight title. This match alone is worth the price of admission, which, if you’re like me, means that you’ll be watching it for free on Versus. Free MMA – who can complain about that?
Have a great week!

Fedor Beats Rogers
Yep, the oddsmakers were right yet again. Those looking for a massive payday at the Strikeforce event were less than pleased by the looping right hook that absolutely obliterated one Brett Rogers. I do believe that the chants of “Sign Fedor now!” are going to be ringing in Dana White’s ears for quite some time. Interesting to see what can be arranged in the next few months.
For now, probably going to watch the DVR’d Sengoku event from HDNet last night. I know Randleman’s on there, but the rest of the guys are relative unknowns (I think).
All in all, the Strikeforce event was awesome television. Just about every fight on the card was entertaining in some way, shape, or form. Here’s to hoping that this is the beginning of more Strikeforce on CBS!!!

Here’s a pic of my most recent MMA-related purchase:
I guess I should explain my reasoning for writing this thing. The month of November 2009 will go down in history as the month when MMA exploded in the United States. With at least 4 events that I can think of (I am sure there’s a DREAM card this month, too), November is shaping up to be the biggest month in the history of MMA. Even the casual fan will have a difficult time not hearing at least something about one of the events this month.
I am writing this fan to document the journey of MMA in my eyes. I am just an average person. I have a daily job. I come home and have my family life. This is a hobby of mine. I expect to add to this blog regularly, though. MMA is a passion of mine. Just watching it, there’s almost a vicarious thrill that can be achieved no matter who you are rooting for.
Enjoy the blog. I will enjoy writing it. I will try and cover all things MMA! Shoot me an e-mail at: rocknrollmusicfan@hotmail.com to let me know what you think about this blog!
